Jay-z Awarded $7m Royalties In Perfume Lawsuit
JAY-Z was awarded close to 7 million dollars in royalty payments from a Manhattan Judge on Wednesday (August 25, 2013) in his trademark 2013 scent Gold by Jay Z. As reported by The New York Post, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Andrew Borrok ruled that Jay-Z would receive $6.78 million and interest on royalty payments that are not paid by the company behind perfume Parlux. “We’ve been awarded and will be receiving the money as we should,” Hov’s lawyer Alex Spiro told The Post following the decision. The Brooklyn mogul and the Parlux signed the deal in 2012 and released the Gold by Jay-Z scent one year later. Parlux later sued Hov in 2016 following the cologne sank in 2016 and she accused Jay in 2016 of not marketing the line in a proper manner.
