This week, the suspected shooter, Justin “Straight Drop” Johnson released a brand new track titled “No Comments” while in prison for his involvement of the incident. The song shows Johnson remaining in his innocence, saying the title of “a musician,” but “the state declares that I’m a hired murderer.” He also is aiming his ire at the opposition with the lyrics: ” No statement need to be patient you might make it the door before you turn.” The release of the song came after Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy announced Hernandez Govan as the third suspect to be detained in the investigation. According to Los Angeles Police Department Chief Michel Moore , the rapper was shot while dining with his girlfriend at Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N Waffles in what seems to be a robbery. Notably, Moore said that a photo of the couple’s supper with the location labeled had been uploaded to Instagram. PnB Rock is not the first rapper to pass away from gun violence, but his passing adds to a pattern that at least stretches back to 2018.
