Summer Walker Teases New Soul Project Following Awards Show Snubs

Summer Walker’s name was omitted of the award discussion this year, however, instead of being down, the absences are motivating her to go back the way she came from.
In an Instagram story posted late on Tuesday evening (November 29), Summer revealed plans for a new project following realizing that playing to the popular music isn’t enough to warrant widespread recognition.
“Now that I am aware of these awards shows won’t don’t matter, I’m going back to making soul music that I am passionate about white heart emoticons EP to be released shortly,” she wrote.
The announcement comes just before the 2023 Grammy Awards nominees were announced in which the most recent album by Summer ” Still over It was not recognized under any of the categories. Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, Lucky Daye, Jazmine Sullivan and Muni Long were among the artists who were mentioned within the academy’s R&B categories.
“Still Over It“ was released in the month of November 2021. It was applauded by critics and fans alike. It was ranked the top of the pile at No. one on the Billboard 200 with 166,000 album-equivalent units sold that made it the highest charting album by a female R&B artist since Beyonce’s Lemonade in the year 2016. It also was the largest first week to debut an R&B album from 2021.
Even though she was nominated for each of the categories for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist as well as BET HER categories during the 2022 BET Awards over the summer, she walked away with nothing. However, she did garner some attention during the awards ceremony however, when her sexy red carpet attire was the topic of controversy since some people were accused of offending Africans by making sexual references to the jewelry worn by people of the Hmong people.
Summer Walker wasn’t the only R&B artist to be omitted by the Grammys this year. Dreamville Star Ari Lennox was also left out to the disappointment of her fans.
“Ari Lennox is really snubbed annually at Grammy, and no one talks about it. her latest album is definitely the top three best album of the year.” wrote one fan on Twitter.
However, as with Summer, Ari turned the rejection into inspiration, and announced a tour of 27 cities for 2023, shortly after the announcement of the nominees.
