Ice Cube Wants Warner Bros. to Give him “Friday” rights: “I’m Not About To Spend Money on My Own Things”

Ice Cube has been fighting Warner Bros. in exchange for they own the Thursday license rights, and the latter is unwilling to cover the cost of the film that he has created.
In a brand new interview on Michael Tyson’s Hotboxin podcast, the actor and rapper admitted that Warner Bros. has been slow in the series despite numerous scripts that are ready for a brand new Friday film.
“I don’t know Warner Brothers is weird right at the moment. I’m not sure what they’re up to They don’t even have any idea what’s happening,” he said. “We’d like to see it back. I believe it will be nearing a date when we can get it back. We’ll either have to be patient or keep insisting to allow us to control the film. This is my film However, they are in the power to distribute it.”
Ice Cube wrote all three films beginning on Friday in 1995, which he wrote together with DJ Pooh. The rapper had complete writing control for the next two films: Next Friday in 2000 and Friday After Next in 2022. The fourth film is currently called The Last Friday.
When Tyson was asked by Ice Cube if he would purchase all rights of Warner Bros to have total ownership of the brand Ice Cube resisted the idea.
“I am not putting my s**t on the line to get it. I’m not,” he said. “They must give the money to me, and they’ll make some money. I’m not going to spend money on my own things which is a mistake … It’s time they have to take the right decision and give it to us and then transform it into money and make fans satisfied … Then we could make a lot of money by using this.”
Ice Cube said that Warner Bros. had already rejected two scripts to make the fourth film. He said executives told him that “the timing was not right” in the initial script and the second script was in “developing hell.”
The deadline has reached Warner Bros. for comment and will update you when we get a response.
