Ice Cube Claims Warner Bros. Will Not Give Him Film Rights To ‘Friday’

The fight over the Friday film franchise between Ice Cube and Warner Bros. is still ongoing.
The magazine has stated the fact that Ice Cube recently spoke about the challenges he is confronted with regard to the chance to purchase these rights from the studio itself. He was in Mike Tyson’s Hotboxin podcast, which revealed that Warner Bros. has neglected to grant him the rights to film the Friday franchise he created. He was previously in the role of a star and composed three Friday films, which were all made as well as distributed through New Line Cinema. Because Warner Bros. now owns New Line, Ice Cube is not able to proceed in the 4th installment in the series without the studio taking over the franchise.
On the show, Cube discussed his ongoing conversations about Warner Bros., “I do not know. Warner Bros is weird right in the moment. I’m not sure what they’re up to. They don’t even know the exact nature of what they’re performing. We’d like to see it back. I’m thinking it’ll be very close to a date when we can get it back. Therefore, we’ll have to keep waiting for the right time or try to convince them to allow us to manage the film. It’s mine however they do have the right to distribute it.” If asked whether Cube would make a payment to get the rights returned and control, Cube responded, “I am not putting money into it. F*** no. They must give it to me and they’ll earn profits. I’m not going to buy my own items. That’s stupid. They must be honest and give it to us and turn the money into more, and keep the fans happy…We are able to do many things by using this.”
In the last few months, Ice Cube also claimed that Warner Bros. rejected two scripts for an upcoming Thursday sequel. You can listen to the podcast above.
