Biggie Honored With Brooklyn Bridge Sculpture Amid 50th Birthday Celebrations

Biggie has been honored in various manners since 1997 when he passed away and he’s even got his individual statue to honor his home town of Brooklyn.
The stainless-steel chiseled monument is 9 feet tall and features solar-powered speakers that blast an assortment of Biggie songs throughout the day thanks to an eclectic playlist created by DJ Mister Cee.
The piece of tribute is located at the foot of the famed Brooklyn Bridge connecting the borough to Manhattan and was created by an artist by the name of Sherwin Banfield.
The artist has been dubbed Sky’s the Limit, in the County of Kings and will continue to be a year-long celebration the Brooklyn rapper’s 50th birthday.
Banfield told Artnet News, “[I’m] a] conventionally trained figurative sculptor and wanted to take something classic then remix or sample it with something new and contemporary.
The location, which is on a hill, greatly influenced the piece because I wanted the audience to approach a beautiful landmark and be welcomed with open arms. “There are two important human characteristics: the voice via a microphone, and the love of an open heart,” the artist said.
People who want to see it will be able to have approximately an entire year to see the work since it’s anticipated to be on display until the end of November 2023.

In addition to the Biggie Smalls announcements, The Notorious B.I.G. is set to be revived as an “true-to-life, hyperrealistic” avatar as part of a virtual reality concert to mark this year’s 25th anniversary since his passing.
On December 16, “The Notorious B.I.G. Sky’s The Limit” A VR concert experience” will be available exclusively on Facebook and Meta VR. It was created in collaboration with the Notorious B.I.G. Estate.
This VR experience will also include an account of a day in the day-to-day life of the Brooklyn legend before the show which will allow viewers to observe Biggie Small’s beginnings in the neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant. This show is also expected to feature appearances by Diddy, The LOX, Nardo Wick and Lil’ Cease, along with DJ sets featuring Clark Kent.
In the meantime, The Notorious B.I.G.’s timeless classic “Juicy” soundtracks the first trailer teaser for the upcoming brand-new film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
