Rockstar Was Reported To Have Rejected Eminem To Appear In The Role In A Gta Film

Rockstar Games have been reported to have refused to accept a GTA film featuring Eminem that could be produced by Top Gun director Tony Scott.

Based on Kirk Ewing, an agent and co-founder of the virtual avatar application Veemee, a late-night chat with the former Rockstar manager Sam Houser nearly led to the multi-grammy-winning rapper appearing in a movie inspired by the Rockstar franchise.

In an interview on Bugzy Malone’s Grandest Game podcast, Ewing said: “Because of the relationship I had with Rockstar and with Sam I even tracked him in his hotel room when I was sure there was a chance he would be staying for a few days and the two were up until late and discussed the possibility of filming.

“This was the day after Grand Theft Auto 3. I believe that at the time it was still on Sam’s head that it could be something he would like to accomplish.”

He added: “I remember taking a call around 4:00 am, from one of our producers from LA offering to create a film and he told me: Kirk We’ve received Eminem as the main actor in the film and it’s a Tony Scott film, five million dollars Are you interested in making it?’

“And I rang Sam and told him”Look, you’ve got to hear this. They’re looking for Eminem to be in The Grand Theft Auto movie and Tony Scott to direct. Then he told me”No thanks..’

“At the time they resigned themselves from any discussion regarding making a film after they realized that the media brand they owned was larger than any film in production in the moment.”

As rumors have circulated through the years of a possible Grand Theft Auto movie, it has never come to the screen.

The Gamechangers, a 2015 film that focuses on the development of GTA itself, was produced by BBC and was starring Daniel Radcliffe as Sam Houser.

Take-Two Interactive tried to stop the making the movie by filing a suit against the BBC for copyright infringement however, it was unsuccessful.

The next day, after the film’s airing on the BBC Rockstar’s official Twitter channel requested: “BBC, was Basil Brush busy? What is this bizarre invented Bollocks?”
