Juelz Santana’s Joint Album With Lil Wayne Did Not Arrive Due To ‘too Much Politics

Juelz SANTA explained why Lil Wayne and his long-awaited album It Can’t Feel My Face have yet to be released by a major label.
The Harlem native spoke to VladTV about the politics that prevented Weezy and him from dropping their album.
Juelz Santana was rumored to be working on a joint album in the mid-2000s. However, nothing happened. The album was eventually leaked online and received very little fanfare.
Juelz stated that Wayne and me did many records together, “just like usual.” “A project worth getting leaked. Around 20 records were leaked, including the I Can’t Feel My Face. Politically, the album was not released on a major label. There was too much politics then, and there were Def Jam, Universal Cash Money, Diplomats and Diplomats.
“Four separate entities had to reach an agreement to promote a project. Wayne was supposed to release an album with T.Pain, the T.Wayne album. It never came out. It wasn’t a Juelz & Wayne [situation].
He said, “That time, just like how you get projects from big artists now, you didn’t get back in our day because it was so difficult for you to get that. It wasn’t about the artists. We were all cool and making music together. It was much bigger than we were. We didn’t have all the power. It’s much less now. You can have Durk and Lil Baby or Drake and Future.
Juelz explained that the project’s theme was to continue the tradition of creating collaborative albums with other artists. I can’t feel my face was meant to be a series. Wayne and Juelz would have handled the first edition. The next installments would feature two more superstar rappers.
However, label politics and the rigid rules at the time thwarted those plans. Wayne and Juelz remained close friends and have recorded additional material.
Juelz says it’s not a question of I can’t feel my face dropping, but rather when. “We have music already recorded, so it isn’t a matter of when it will be released. Wayne and I are working on an I Can’t Feel My Face album. It could be out tomorrow.”
Lil Wayne was also honored recently with an exhibit at the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM), in celebration of his 40th birthday.
A press release from the NMAAM in Nashville stated that Weezy opened an exhibit for people to see artifacts such as his Grammy for Rap Album of the year, his BET “I Am Hip-Hop Award”, a handwritten Rikers Island letter, and an original CD of Tha Block Is Hot, which was his debut major label album.
The exhibit also features live music and a virtual speech by Lil Wayne for students. The exhibit also features an interactive section where visitors can record themselves reading Lil Wayne lyrics in a rap booth created by the NMAAM.
