L.A. Rapper Half Ounce Shot & Killed In Koreatown Drive-by

Half Ounce, a rapper from Los Angeles, was shot and died in a drive-by shooting.
The young rapper from Inglewood, whose real name is Latauriisha O’Brien, was shot and killed on Monday (October 3), about 11:30 p.m., near 8th and New Hampshire, according to Fox 11 Los Angeles.
Authorities assert that Half Ounce and a companion were on their way home when a dark-colored SUV arrived and started shooting at them. According to reports, the rapper’s friend fled the scene, and police are attempting to find him as they look for the shooter. It’s unknown if the rapper’s companion fired back.
The Los Angeles Police Department found Half Ounce in a planter, and he claimed that his pregnant wife was on the phone with him when shots were fired.
The rapper from “GANGBANGIN” is the third rapper to have fallen victim to gun violence in Los Angeles County over the course of the last month. The end of September also saw the reported shooting and death of another young rapper named Kee Riches in Compton, and most tragically, PnB Rock was murdered on September 12 while having dinner with his fiancée at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles.
Kee Riches’ murder remains unsolved, but authorities made progress when they detained a 17-year-old suspect who they believe fired the gunfire that killed the Philadelphia rapper Rock.
The teenage son of Freddie Lee Trone, who police think was the driver of the getaway car, was reportedly arrested, likely on suspicion of first-degree murder. The boy’s stepmother Shauntel Trone was also detained shortly after, and she is charged with being an accessory after the fact, along with Lee Trone.
