Eminem’s ‘8 Mile’ Royalties Are Still Paying Off, Says Mobb Deep’s Havoc

“Eminem’s” 8 Mile movie was a massive box office hit as well Mobb Deep’s Havoc has acknowledged the Musicdope90s that the film is still paying a portion of the costs of his film.
The Queensbridge-bred producer and lyricist claimed the lyricist had been “taken back” when he first saw the iconic clip in which Em’s B-Rabbit figure freely dancing on Mobb Deep’s “Shook Ones” instrumental.
“I mean I was really taken back because I didn’t even know if Eminem was a fan,” Havoc revealed on the BET Hip Hop Awards red carpet. “So to discover that Eminem was a fan, I discovered Eminem was a fan, and then the cha-ching noise came into my head. The purchase was a Fendi sweatshirt.”
In the same interview, Havoc had to share his top verse of the past as well as his top Prodigy track. In both cases, Havoc chose “Shook Ones.” DX asked if the group were aware of the potential hit in their hands when they first came up with the track.
“I mean Prodigy definitely knew that because I made the beat in my crib in the projects or whatever,” Havoc declared. “I did not think much about it. Prodigy came in and asked: ‘What could be the matter with this?’ I asked “whatever,’ and he said, ‘No We then made “Shook Ones. ‘”
The promotional single was released as a B-side on Mobb Deep’s sophomore album “The Infamous in 1994. and the less explicit sequel “Shook Ones Pt. II” was the first single from the track into one of their top charting songs, and debuting at the top of the pile at. 52 on the Billboard 200.
The track is a key element in Eminem’s 8 Mile film and appears numerous times throughout the album. The track is now one of the most acclaimed rap tracks and was featured in The Marvel TV show Luke Cage and video games such as Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and NBA 2k13 and 2k18.
Prodigy died of complications resulting from sickle-cell anemia, in the year 2017. The first album he released posthumously, The Hegelian Dialect 2: The Book of Heroine dropped on September 30, The album is the next installment to The Book of Revelation from 2017. Hegelian Dialectic (The Book of The Book of Revelation) and will be followed by the third album, The Book of Dead The Book of the Dead, which will be released in 2023.
Havoc has also revealed over his summer tour that he’s working on an upcoming Mobb Deep album. “I got the Mobb Deep album that I’m working on with a bunch of unreleased Prodigy verses,” Havoc said to Rock The Bells in August, describing it as an “full circle moment.”
“The way LL [COOL J] crafted and put this thing together, I don’t think nobody else could have,” said the rapper. “LL is a Queen’s general, salute to him, of course, he would put a production of this magnitude together and include your favorite MCs and producers.”
