50 Cent Shows Solidarity With Washington Commanders’ RB Brian Robinson As Fellow Gunshot Survivor
Sunday was an occasion to celebrate Brian Robinson. For the first time since being shot during an attempted robbery, the rookie running back for the Washington Commanders came out of the tunnel at FedEx Field. Six weeks after undergoing surgery for two gunshot wounds, Robinson returned to the field while the team played the instrumental to 50 Cent’s “Many Men.”
After the incident gained attention on social media, 50 Cent paid attention.
“That (expletive) ain’t stop nothing, the rapper rapped, adding lyrics over a video of the incident, saying that when God has higher plans, a bump in the road is just a temporary setback. b.robinson 4 is back in action right away.”
Robinson used several exclamation points to share the article on his Instagram story.
Chris Butler, a devoted Commanders fan for his whole life and a rookie season ticket holder, tweeted a tweet that quickly went viral and emphasized the song introducing Robinson. Butler claimed that he was prepared for Robinson’s comeback in Week 5 even before it was officially revealed.
He told USA TODAY Sports, “There was no way I was going to miss that game.”
When players started to enter the field on game day, Butler realized No. 8 wasn’t there. Butler immediately recognized the well-known tune when five bass kicks started to play.
He said, “When I heard it, I lost it.”
Butler said that Commanders and Tennessee Titans supporters made up a sizable portion of the crowd, but that “the individuals who were there and heard it and recognized what was going on, it was fantastic.”
Curtis Jackson III, better known as 50 Cent, wasn’t only supporting Robinson because of the song. Jackson was shot nine times in 2000 while he was riding in a friend’s vehicle. That incident had a profound effect on his life and helped him throughout his musical career to tell a story of resiliency.
Although he has frequently brought up the shooting, “Many Men” is regarded as one of his most significant analyses of it. Sunny days wouldn’t be special without rain, and joy wouldn’t feel as good without grief, according to one of the lyrics. In addition, he enjoys football. He recently announced a collaboration with the Houston Texans and appeared as a surprise guest during the Super Bowl 56 halftime performance.
The Commanders (1-4) were defeated 21-17 on Sunday. While Washington supporters are eagerly awaiting a victory on the field, Robinson’s comeback offered a unique moment of triumph that is greater than all of that.
