50 Cent Reacts To Yg Flipping His Classic Anthem ‘How To Rob’

Although 50 Cent is credited with some of Hip Hop‘s biggest singles, none are as well-known as his underground masterpiece “How To Rob,” which YG has recently redone.

The Compton MC flips Fif’s contentious debut single on the track “How To Rob A Rapper” from YG’s sixth studio album, I Got Issues, which was released on Friday (October 30).
On the Mozzy and D3SZN-assisted track, he raps, “Peep game, I’ma teach you how to rob a rapper/ Catch an n-gga lackin’, he slackin’ on IG Live/ He gon’ show his whereabouts on accident, he be high/ He gon’ display the diamonds he wearin’ and the car that he drive.”

After learning about the song, 50 thanked YG by uploading a screenshot of the music video to his Instagram. The Queens legend tagged the picture with the phrase “Yeah [eyes emoji] this is hard.” ‘How To Rob’ @Yg Check out this crap Boom.

YG responded to the compliment by writing: “[Huff emojis] had to flip yo shitt group.” in the comments section.
The lead song from 50 Cent’s debut album Power of the Dollar was going to be his cover of “How To Rob.” However, the record was withheld and never released after the G-Unit mogul was infamously shot nine times.

The song ended up being included on the soundtrack for the 1999 thriller Into Deep, which starred LL COOL J and Omar Epps. It also appears as the final track on the Madd Rapper’s debut album, Tell ‘Em Why U Madd.

Although 50 has praised YG’s “How To Rob A Rapper,” it has drawn criticism elsewhere because some people think it is disrespectful in light of PnB Rock’s tragic murder.

It provides a step-by-step tutorial on how to stick up a Hip Hop musician and comes out only a few weeks after the Philadelphia rapper was fatally murdered during a heist in Los Angeles.
One user tweeted: “YG publishing a song called ‘How to Rob a Rapper‘ is a lil too much in light of PnB Rock being robbed and murdered in LA,” while another added: “I ain’t saying YG is dissing Pnb Rock with his new song but the timing is bad.”

Another person wrote: “We live in an age where tracks can be removed from albums in real time. The 4Hunnid rapper should completely remove the song from his album. Given PNB Rock, YG’s “How To Rob A Rapper” should have been removed.

YG is not new to describing the risks of living on the streets in his music. In the 2016 Still Brazy song “Don’t Come to LA,” he warned his fellow musicians on how to act in the city where, among others, Nipsey Hussle and Pop Smoke just met their terrible deaths.

He then continues, “So when y’all n-ggas hop off your jet/ You better tuck what’s on your neck and get the fuck from ’round here. I don’t give a fuck who you n-ggas paying/ Who name you saying, you ain’t good around here/ ‘Cause y’all n-ggas fucking up the rep/ Y’all playing with the set, it’s really.
