What 2pac Was Really Like In The Studio: A Deep Dive

2Pac’s creativity is examined in the most recent video of “Deep Dive” YouTube series.

The video, which runs 17 minutes, will shed light on what ‘Pac’ – who is a sought-after and fascinating character over a quarter of a century after his passing – really was as a studio musician as described by some of his most close collaborators like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, E-40, DJ Quik and Warren G.

One of the main reasons why the late rap icon was a force to reckon with was his frenzied working rate. In a single clip, Snoop Dogg provides insight into the fervor and enthusiasm that ‘Pac had in his lab, showing that he would crank out track after song, without even examining the lyrics.

“We’d be in the studio, it be like 30 n-ggas in here,” he states. “He’d create a song … When the song would go off, he’d never take a look! “Put that shit on the floor and make the next beat. He’d go into the next beat, and then compose more hit. Boom. 20 minutes later, he’s is spitting it out in the muthafucka. This n-gga sang three songs performed in one hour. He did not listen to any of them.”

Another one is E-40 who was a collaborator alongside 2Pac in the production of “Ain’t Hard 2 Find” and “Dusted ‘N’ Disgusted,” recalls his amazement witnessing E-40 the “All Eyez on Me” rapper develop the lyrics in his head, and then attack his beats in the studio.

“I’ve never seen nobody write like that in my life, I promise you,” he recalls. “It was not pre-planned, written or anything like that the writing came straight from the top of the dome. It was like he’d create it on the spot. He’d be listening to the beat, and get right to the scene!”

According to the fellow West Coast luminary DJ Quik 2Pac’s influence was intense that it remained in the studio following his passing.

“It makes your hair stand up, bruh,” He declares. “Shit happen in the studio, which makes engineers nervous and they rise up and leave the console. This happened at Henson Recording in L.A. on La Brea. We were working on The Loyal Game as he in a low-key manner kept a watchful eye on in the recording studio.”

In addition to rare archive footage, the program showcases 2Pac’s dedication to his art, his willingness to work with producers and his humorous side in the studioas shown in a video of Snoop Dogg and him laughing while making music.
