The Queen’s death occurred in her sleep on the evening of Thursday (September 8.) at Balmoral close to Aberdeen in Scotland in Scotland. She was with her family members who had been invited to her residence earlier in the morning after her health concerns grew.
“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon,” an official statement from Buckingham Palace said. “The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
Many Hip Hop and R&B artists have been on platforms to show their respect for the monarch who died and queen, including Nicki Minaj who is often called “The Queen.” The Young Money rapper shared her condolences on Twitter and the Royal Family’s official statement concerning the death of QEII.
The Ruff Ryders Rapper Eve posted a photo of the monarch’s final resting place and wrote: “Rest in peace #QueenElizabeth.”
Janet Jackson also honored her memory, sharing an old photo of her meeting Queen Elizabeth II wearing the traditional Rhythm Nation military dress. The caption read: “May you Rest In Peace Queen.”
Queen Elizabeth II was elected to the throne in the year 1952. Her reign as the head of state made her go through severe austerity after the war, the change from the empire to the Commonwealth and the end of the Cold War, and the UK’s admission into and eventual withdrawal from the European Union (EU).
Her reign was spanned by 15 prime ministers, beginning with Winston Churchill, born in 1874, and ending in Liz Truss, who was chosen by Queen Elizabeth II this week.
