Lil Nas X & M&m’s Team Up For Limited Edition Charity Candy

Lil Nas X has joined forces with M&M’S to launch limited-edition pastel-colored candy that features the rapper’s image to support Sing For Hope’s Sing For Hope Pianos initiative. Sing For Hope Pianos initiative.
The limited-edition collaboration was launched on Wednesday (September 21st) and can be purchased at the M&M’S Times Square retail store located within New York City, while the supplies remain. Fans can also purchase candy online through the specially designed website made for the collaboration.
The Lil Nas X-inspired packs include a one-pound box of pink, blue and purple sweets that feature the classic “M” emblem, as well as Lil Nas’s face, butterflies, and heart. The candy comes in a box commemorating the event, paying tribute to the Montero star.
“Growing young, I not imagined that my face would appear on M&M’S. But there we are and it’s amazing” Lil Nas X said in an announcement. “And I’m so glad that we’re helping the music and art communities in the same time.”
The collaboration that was first revealed in May is an extension of M&M’s goal of “bringing people together with colorful entertainment and music.” M&M will donate $5 of every sale to the pianos of Sing For Hope, an annual public arts initiative that has been established pianos by artists all over the world since 2010.
In celebration of this special campaign, the foundation commissioned designers and illustrators Patrick Freeman and Julie Diaz Petta from the New York gay and lesbian center’s Youth Pride Chorus to create the Lil Nas X-inspired piano. The instrument was showcased at the NYC stage on the Long Live Montero Tour at Radio City Music Hall earlier this week.
The piano was later transferred to Times Square M&M’S, where it will be in the store until mid-October, before it is transferred to Newark Pride Inc., an organization that create safe, engaging and inspiring activities for members of the LGBTQ Community.
“Not just are Lil Nas X one of the most powerful, skilled artists of the present He is also a catalyst to express himself for his vast and hugely diverse audience,” said Allison Miazga-Bedrick who is the Senior Brand Director for M&M’S parent company Mars Wrigley. “The M&M’S brand knew he could be the ideal collaborator to fulfill our mission to create a world in which everyone feels like they belong.”
Lil Nas X kicked off his world tour earlier in the month in Detroit and will stay traveling throughout the U.S. through October 23. He is the “Industry Baby” artist made headlines this week after he reacted to protesters against his Boston concert by ordering pizza to the audience outside the venue.
This week, the rapper released the visuals for his newest song, “STAR WALKIN‘.” According to Pitchfork, the song was also used to reveal Lil Nas’ new role as head of League of Legends which is a gaming online multiplayer arena.
