French Montana Inspired by Mac Miller’s death to start rehab services

Mac Miller’s death caused shock waves throughout The Hip Hop community, and it spurred French Montana to create an addiction support service.

In an interview within the People Everyday podcast, Montana, who has been fighting addiction issues for himself and explained his most recent collaboration in partnership with Guardian Recovery Services and NAQI Healthcare will provide an in-home detox program that is supervised for those seeking to be clean.

“[Mac Miller’s death] touched me because I’m in that space and I consider these artists as my brothers and my family,” French declared. “And when we lose one, it’s like damn near losing part of us.”

He then explained that his program assists addicts in detoxing in the right way because doing it on your own could create dangers.

“You can’t shake it off yourself, because it’s dangerous,” the doctor said. “I’m thrilled and satisfied that we can treat patients, especially from the comfort of their homes. Many patients are not public.”

He went on to say: “When you go through your troubles, you’ll want to keep your thoughts private. You need to be cared for in a place where you feel comfortable. We’re trying to ensure that people live in the best way we can, regardless of where they feel comfortable.”

The “Unforgettable” rapper was hospitalized in the year 2019 for exhaustion as well as substance abuse and claimed to have been sober for over an entire year.

“It was just overdoing something for too long,” he said about the incident. “And until the point that today, sober is my new level of high. People said I was crazy. But not me. You are aware of what I’m talking about?”

French is now considering overcoming his addiction as one of his greatest accomplishments in his life. “I stepped back, took two steps back, didn’t drop no music, detox from social media,” French said. “And I believe that was probably the most difficult thing I’ve ever done in my entire life, to grab myself back. For me, to put everything aside and be still, was probably one of my greatest accomplishments.”

Mac Miller passed away at the age of 26 following an accidental overdose. L.A. County Coroner’s Office confirmed it as being caused by the presence of fentanyl cocaine, and alcohol in his system.

Three suspected of being drug dealers who, according to prosecutors, supplied Mac Miller with oxycodone, a counterfeit drug mixed with fentanyl were convicted. Two of them were sentenced to at minimum eleven years of prison.
