Eminem Is One Tony Award Away From Achieving Egot Status

Eminem is just one award away from becoming an EGO (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) winner.

The renowned MC was awarded a Creative Arts Emmy on Saturday night (September 3) in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for his unforgettable Super Bowl LVI Pepsi Halftime Show performance with Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent.

Only 17 performers have earned these “Grand Slam” achievements and it’s unlikely that we’ll have Slim Shady on Broadway any anytime soon, but it’s certainly within the possible (hey there are some things that have occurred).

Eminem was awarded his very first Grammy Award in 2000 for The Slim Shady LP, which was named best Rap Album. In the years since Eminem has received an additional 14 gold-plated trophies and amassed another 44 nominations.

He received his first Oscar in the Best Original Song category for “Lose Yourself” from the film 8 Mile. While he didn’t perform at the ceremony in 2003 but he did show up two decades later to sing “Lose Yourself” at The 94th Annual Academy Awards in 2020. The rapper later posted a joke about it via Twitter and wrote “Look at it, if you had another chance you could have another chance. Thanks for having me at @TheAcademy. Sorry, I took 18 years to reach this point.”

With more than 220 million albums sold around the globe, Eminem is one of the most successful artists of all time and is often credited with the rise of Hip Hop in middle America.

In the spring of this year, the rapper was admitted earlier this year into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, adding to the small selection of Hip Hop artists given the distinction. As of 2022, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Beastie Boys, N.W.A, Public Enemy, Run-DMC, 2Pac, Biggie, JAY-Z, and LL COOL J.

Snoop Dogg, T-Pain, Warren G  and more will be on touring in the month of December to perform a tour on time for the Christmas season . The Doggfather took to his Instagram page to announce the Holidaze of Blaze tour with an Instagram post that showcased the flyer which features Snoop and T-Pain , who is posing with marijuana plants. According to the information on the flyer Warren G will serve as an extra act in the tour alongside  Ying Yang Twins and Justin Champagne .
