Eminem Addresses ‘Relapse 2’ Rumors: ‘They’re Terrible Songs’

The rapper has finally addressed the rumors of the possibility of a Relapsesequel that many fans had believed was initially pushed back after Marshall Mathers got sober.

The Relapse 2rumor mill has been churning this year following Eminem dropping a brand new track featuring 50 Cent named “Is This Love (’09)” for his Curtain Call 2 compilation in August.

The following Wednesday (September 8), Slim Shady confirmed during an interview with longtime director Paul Rosenberg on his new podcast Paul Pod 2: Curtain Call that this project will never see the daylight of day.

“There’s probably enough to make another Relapse 2,” Eminem stated. “There are a lot of songs that did not leak out from Relapse.”

Rosenberg talked about Relapse the Refill that contained the new songs from the 2009 tape however, he did not tell Em that his fans have demanded to release the “hidden” Relapse 2 tracks he spoke about. The Super Bowl LVI Halftime entertainer was described as “a setup.”

“They’re terrible songs, and if they didn’t even make the albums on Relapse, and I feel how I feel about Relapse, then that should say something,” Em continued. “There’s no Relapse 2.”

Relapse 2 was originally planned as a sequel that Em talked about in 2010 prior to announcing a shift in direction for their creative work.

“I got back in with [Dr.] Dre and then a few more producers, including Just Blaze, and went in a completely different direction which made me start from scratch,” Eminem stated to the magazine during the period. “The new tracks started to sound very different than the tracks I originally intended to be on Relapse 2, but I still want the other stuff to be heard.”

Eminem would follow up the release of Relapse by releasing His Recoveryalbum which debuted at No. one on the Billboard 200 with 741,000 copies sold. It would later be certified as platinum at 8x from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album was the top-selling album of the year it was also nominated for three Grammys.

Paul Rosenberg announced the seven-part Paul Pod series in August. He stated that the series will “give a look inside the making of the albums from the last 15 years of Eminem’s career,” including, “the processes, struggles and triumphs from some of the key people that made it all happen.”

Past guests on the show were Steve Berman, Royce Da 5’9” James Larese, Skylar Grey, and Adam Blackstone. Eminem is currently closing the show with a two-part interview. The second and final segment is scheduled to air in September 14.
