Brady, Bucs Look To Get Offense Going Vs Mahomes, Chiefs
Three touchdowns in three games barely can be described as getting the task accomplished offensively.
Tom Brady knows he and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have to improve their performance in the future and that starts with a game that is highly anticipated this Sunday with Patrick Mahomes and the high-scoring Kansas City Chiefs.
This is the first time that they’ve met the Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks after Bucs beat in the title game against the Chiefs at the NFL championship game two years ago.
There’s also a factor of intrigue to the game taking place in Tampa following Hurricane Ian that caused massive destruction across Florida earlier during the week.
“I always feel like sport brings people together. … watching different challenges, whether they were 9/11-related or the event was (Hurricane) Katrina, sports can be a wonderful method heal wounds, making people feel connected and bringing communities closer,” Brady said.
“I believe whenever you get to participate in something like this is a wonderful feeling. It’s very important to us to have the chance to perform for our fans every single day,” Brady added. “But after what so many people have gone through in the state, it’s great to go out there and give them something to cheer about.”
(2-1) The Bucs (2-1) moved from South Florida to avoid direct contact with the storm. They used their Miami Dolphins practice facility to prepare for the Chiefs (2-1).
They’re on the right track to be successful despite having a difficult time offensively. The team has had injuries that have been a contributing issue, but Brady does not use that to justify the team’s turnover rate to be higher (four) more than offensive scoring TDs (three) until this moment.

“We’re three games into. We’re beginning to realize that we’ve missed some things that we’ve not done well that we need to correct,” Brady said.
“Whoever’s in the game, we’ve got to do a better job of scoring points,” the seven-time Super Bowl champion added. “That boils down to numerous thingspenalties, turnovers, choosing the right play and playing the game. If we follow through I’m sure we’ll gain points.”
As with the Bucs, Chiefs are just coming off an early loss to start the year. Tampa Bay limited Kansas City to three field goals last time the teams played and the head Coach Todd Bowles’ defense has been improving since then.
“They’re one of, if not the best defense in football,” Mahomes added. Mahomes who is trying to bounce back from a loss on the road of 20-17 to Indianapolis.
“They have great players in every phase … and they’ve played together for a while, so they’re going to kind of confuse you, give you different looks, and they’re going to fly around and make plays,” Mahomes said. “So, it’s about us executing, getting the ball out of my hand and making other guys make plays.”
DOMINANT D
The Bucs have allowed an average of nine points per game. They have limited Dallas to just a field goal in their 19-3 victory in their season-opener and not scoring a touchdown until fourth quarter as they defeated New Orleans 20-10. In the last game, the team was able to hold Green Bay to 14 in the loss by two points in a two-point loss to Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.
“I really love how our defense has been playing. … The team has to get out there and match the things they’ve done. They’re keeping us involved in each and every match,” Brady said. “Ultimately, we’ve got to go out there, find our rhythm, score more points and take some pressure off them.”
RUN TO DAYLIGHT
The Chiefs just achieved 58 yards of rushing on 23 carries in Indianapolis despite the fact that the Colts were without their the most effective defensive player Shaquille Leonard. The team will now play against the league’s best defensive line at Tampa Bay.
“It’s something that all 11 have to look at each other and kind of figure out, ‘These are things we need to do and these are the things we need to get down,'” Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards Helaire said. “It isn’t one thing you can just pinpoint.”
HELP FOR BRADY
Bucs’ WR Mike Evans returns after serving an one-game suspension for his involvement in an off-field fight in New Orleans two weeks ago. Two of Brady’s primary players — Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) missed the last two games due to injuries. Their condition for Sunday’s game remains unknown, but Bowles stated earlier this week that he believes Jones will be able to play.
