Tony Yayo Credits 50 Cent For Keeping Him Out Of Trouble: “He Helped Us Survive A Lot Of Shit”

Tony Yayo claims that 50 Cent assisted him in “surviving” his early G-Unit days.

Yayo discussed Pop Smoke’s passing and 6ix9ine’s RICO case in an interview with the Only Way Out Podcast, noting that the only reason he was able to stay out of such risky situations was because of the advice 50 Cent gave him when he was a budding rapper.

“There used to be 14 guns on the bus like Bobby Shmurda and them n-ggas, we used to be running around like that,” Yayo said around the 28-minute mark. “You gotta kinda be smart, you have a n-gga like Fif around that help us survive a lot of shit. ‘Cause he’ll be like, ‘Yo, if you gotta bring a gun, why the fuck you going? Just go party in my mansion I’m not even there. Just take over my mansion.”

He continued: “He’ll tell you: ‘You know you got a girl in your room that’s a stranger. Don’t get these girls pregnant on the road, ’cause I done seen n-ggas do it.’”

In other parts of the conversation, Yayo spoke extensively about how things have changed and discussed how popular Instagram trolling has become, particularly for rappers.

You’re weak, you can’t allow a person get to you like that, Yayo stated. “See that’s when you let an n-gga get in your brain. “And don’t misunderstand, they’ll get you. They got me before. But after going through it, you realize that you must not let this n-ggas to affect you. But you are aware of how resilient the internet is.

Over the years, Tony Yayo has amassed a large collection of 50 Cent anecdotes, some of which are less delectable than others. The “Drama Setter” rapper recently said that he and 50 once arrived with their crew at a Destiny’s Child recording session, but that because of their heated temperament, they were expelled.

Yayo remembered, “It was a bunch of Brooklyn n-ggas in there with us and the Trackmasters, and one of them n-ggas walked in and was like, ‘Yo, we thugging them out. “This was the first time they performed as Destiny’s Child. They have the song by 50 Cent and Beyoncé called “A thug’s what I want.”

He continued: “50 always liked the Brooklyn n-ggas ’cause back then, the Brooklyn n-ggas wouldn’t care … Them n-ggas would get on a train with the hammers. Brooklyn n-ggas, they fresh and fly like a muthafucka, but back then it was the grimy Brooklyn in the ’90s, like scars on their face, big ass .357. ‘Yeah, I need to rob a n-gga.’”
