But there was one person Tupac reportedly refused to make music with: The King of Pop, Michael Jackson. According to a close friend of the late rapper, Tupac declined a duet with Jackson. It’s not clear why Tupac turned down the chance to collaborate with one of the most successful musicians of all time. But given Tupac’s independent streak, it’s not surprising that he would have refused to enter into a partnership with someone he didn’t fully respect.

Tupac Shakur and Micheal Jackson were both iconic artists in the 90s. They both seemed to have mutual respect for each other, Tupac even went as far as to say Micheal was his favorite artist. However, that all changed when Tupac was told that Micheal wasn’t going to be able to make it to a recording session they were both supposed to be at. Tupac was upset because he felt disrespected by Micheal, and he decided not to record his verse for the song. This event caused a rift between the two artists and they never spoke again. Even though they were never able to patch things up, their music continues to influence people all over the world.

According to Napoleon, it didn’t matter how big Jackson’s star power was. Tupac reportedly felt the situation was unprofessional and disrespectful.

“He walked out on the opportunity because he was more about ethics and morals. Like we look up to you. ‘If you want me to be on the song, at least say hi to me.’ I don’t think ‘Pac was just doing stuff for money,” he added. “It was more personal if he get on a record with you and stuff like that. He didn’t really care about the money.”
