Carlos Correa, Justin Verlander’s opt-out plans for upcoming free agency, revealed

The closing months of the MLB regular season are approaching. Competitors are preparing for the stretch run as the playoff races heat up. However, it doesn’t follow that players and clubs aren’t also getting ready for MLB free agency. Both Justin Verlander and Carlos Correa are anticipated to make significant free-agent decisions on their contracts, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

Correa’s decision to opt-out of the contract he signed with the Minnesota Twins in the offseason was always anticipated. The signature itself surprised me. If the team struggled, some even projected that the shortstop would be traded before the deadline. But Minnesota is still in the playoff race and clearly kept Carlos Correa. As long as Carlos Correa is healthy going forward, according to Heyman, he is “likely to opt out of his agreement.”
