The Los Angeles Lakers have been Kyrie Irving’s most commonly mentioned team. Although the Los Angeles Lakers are now willing to trade two first-round selections for the point guard. A recent report indicated that the Brooklyn Nets are not interested in the Lakers’ offer.

Maybe now is the right time for some other teams to try and enter the Kyrie Irving trade market. He’s still among the league’s top point guards, so acquiring him would instantly improve any team’s talent. Here are three teams that could be able to snag Kyrie Irving and surprise the Los Angeles Lakers.

Zion Williamson will be back next season

Once Zion Williamson returns for the New Orleans Pelicans’ next season, they will switch into win-now mode. Under Brandon Ingram’s direction, they made the playoffs without him this past season. And now that an All-Star talent has been added to the roster, they should theoretically be a formidable squad.

Since Kyrie Irving’s contract is about to expire, trading for him wouldn’t necessarily require much of the team. As a result, the Brooklyn Nets are probably more interested in receiving a good return. In this scenario, the Pelicans would have to part ways with two respectable prospects in Kira Lewis Jr. and Jaxson Hayes in addition to veteran CJ McCollum. One first-round pick would be used as draft compensation.

The Brooklyn Nets would receive some young players in exchange for this transaction, along with CJ McCollum, a capable veteran leader. Since McCollum’s contract ends in 2024, it will be a significant trade chip during the 2023–2024 campaign.
